• Iowa has second lowest unemployment rate in the nation

    Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 2.6 percent in July. 

    The state’s jobless rate was 3.1 percent one year ago, according to new numbers  from Iowa Workforce Development. The U.S. unemployment rate decreased to 3.9 percent in July. 

    The number of unemployed Iowans dropped from 44,900 in June to 44,000 in July. 

    2.6 percent is the lowest Iowa's unemployment has been in 18 years.
